"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
(1 Corinthians 10:31)
I have previously meditated on how to glorify God in our eating and our work. Another aspect of my life at the moment is education. I am really very blessed to receive Christian Reformed education, and so I'll focus on how to glorify God in Christian education.
1. Be thankful. God has supplied you with education with a focus on God and a Christian centre. What a blessing this is! What an opportunity to be thankful to Him for this! Do not grudgingly go to school every day but rather do it willingly and cheerfully, treating it as an opportunity to excel, and to learn more about God. (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
2. Do your best. Convert your thankfulness into positive effort and glorify Him with your results. Do your best for Him and not because your teachers require it or your parents demand it. Don't take shortcuts but go the extra mile. Glorify God by being meticulous. "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men" (Colossians 3:23).
3. Develop your talents. God has given talents. Develop them to the best of your ability, and use them in God's service. (Matthew 25:14-30)
4. Be Godly in your walk and talk. This certainly doesn't only apply to school or college but it is one aspect that you must not neglect in an educational environment. Show that in your whole life God is in the centre, and that you do all things for His glory. (Ezekiel 20:19)
5. Persevere in your Biblical study. Do not forsake your spiritual study and learning about God for your school work. It is God who gives you the strength to persevere and do well. (Proverbs 2:6; Isaiah 33:6)
6. Show love. Don't be selfish but abound in love to your classmates, teachers, and others. Help others. Obey those in authority over you. Be considerate for those who are struggling. Do all this because of the love you have for God. (1 Corinthians 13:4; Hebrews 13:1; 1 Peter 4:8)
