2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, 4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
God loves His children to pray to
Him. He actually delights in being asked for things (Proverbs 15:8).
He answers prayers before we pray them and hears us before we are
even finished speaking (Isaiah 65:24). He encourages us to be like
the watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem in Isaiah 62:6-7:
“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
They shall never hold their peace day or night.
You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent,
And give Him no rest till He establishes
And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”
That’s encouraging. That means that
God, the giver of all things (Acts 17:25) likes to be asked for
things. I find that it’s greatly beneficial
to meditate on why this is so.
