The days of our lives are seventy years;
And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,
Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow;
For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Who knows the power of Your anger?
For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.
So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
I’m thankful.
Thankful for 18 years of physical life. Thankful for 18 years of spiritual life.
I’m thankful for 18 years of communion with God. I’m thankful for years of communion with His Word.
I’m thankful for the death of one Man 2000 years ago. I’m thankful for my conception 18 years ago.
I’m thankful for the forgiveness of all my failings of 18 years. I’m thankful for the revelation of the 10 commands that so expose these failings of every moment.
I’m thankful for my Father’s providence of 18 years. I’m thankful for the Son’s redemption of my 18 years. I’m thankful for the Spirit’s sanctification for 18 years.
I’m thankful for my earthly father’s protection and guidance. I’m thankful for my earthly mother’s care and provision.
I’m thankful for a group of believing friends, who stir up love and good works in me, and exhort me to hold my confidence steadfast to the end.
I’m prayerful.
Prayerful for many more years of physical life, so that I may serve God. Prayerful for many more years of spiritual life, so that I may serve God forever.
I’m prayerful for God to not let me waste this year that He has given me. I’m prayerful for God’s strength in my task as His servant for my remaining years.
I’m prayerful that I may be God-centred on a day where it is so easy to be me-centred. I’m prayerful that I may be God-centred in every choice I make for the coming eternity.
I’m prayerful that I may not put my trust in physical gifts that moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal but rather the eternal gift of grace, which neither moth nor rust destroys and which thieves cannot break in and steal (Matthew 6:19-20).
I’m prayerful that I may not worry about my coming years, but that I may firmly rest in God’s providence, for, “He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22).
I’m prayerful that I may be thankful in prosperity and patient in adversity. I’m prayerful that I may constantly sacrifice myself in service to my God.
I’m prayerful for those I love, that they too may stand steadfast to the end, and that they may behold God's glory together with me—a glory that man’s eye has not seen, nor the ear of man heard, nor our heart conceived (1 Corinthians 2:9).
I’m thankful and prayerful.

I'm thankful for the gift we received 18 years ago in your birth. I'm thankful for the privilege of nurturing you as you grew in spirit and maturity. I'm thankful for the work of God in you that makes you the man you have become.
ReplyDeleteI'm prayerful that God will continue to provide for you in time to come. That He may sustain and preserve you for Himself for eternity. I'm prayerful that He will give you what you need as you prepare yourself for work in His kingdom.
Love, Mum
