(Psalm 119:97)
Here are 10 reasons to read and meditate on God's Word.
1. The Gospel saves
Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.2. The Gospel frees us from Satan
(1 Timothy 4:15-16)
Then Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)
3. The Gospel gives us grace and peace
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1:2)
4. The Gospel sanctifies
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. (John 17:17)5. The Gospel protects us from heresies
"Come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, ... that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting" (Ephesians 4:13-14)6. The Gospel gives us hope and anticipation of heaven.
Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.7. The Gospel gives us joy
(1 Corinthians 13:12)
And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. (1 John 1:4)8. The Gospel gives us encouragement
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. (Romans 15:4)9. The Gospel shows us the right path
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)10. We are commanded to study the Gospel
Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(2 Peter 3:18)
