Reminder of the Results of the Resurrection

The resurrection has such a powerful meaning for us that I think it would be beneficial to be reminded of the implications of Christ’s resurrection from the dead.

1.    Death will never have dominion over Christ again:

“[God] raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption” (Acts 13:34)

“Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.” (Romans 6:9)

2.    Christ’s resurrection was a guarantee of our glorious resurrection:

“But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
(1 Corinthians 15:20-22)

“He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you.” (2 Corinthians 4:14)

3.    Our true life is rested in God – not in temporal things on this earth:

“[God] raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6)

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4)

4.    We are now born again to a living hope through Jesus’ resurrection:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)

5.    Christ intercedes for us before God

“It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” (Romans 8:34)

6.    By His resurrection He confirmed and fulfilled the Scriptures:

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and He was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

7.    Christ has now received glory from the Father – glory that we will see in times to come:

“And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was… Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me.”
(John 17:5, 24)
